Exploring Fablewood-June 13, 2016

A while back I posted a rough drawing of troll witch sitting in the fields with some will-o-wisps. Over the weekend I pulled the drawing out to continue work towards creating finished drawings for this years sketchbook. Which I am still back and forth on the name, but hoping to narrow down soon, so I can create some graphics for the project.

Taking the original drawing I created a while back I used as the basis for the next stage in the drawing resulting in minor changes overall but the same feel.

After taking the preliminary drawing I lightboxed the drawing onto heavier bristol board that can take the abuse of graphite and me. I didn’t have a chance to finish the drawing the weekend, so here’s a work in progress shot as I continue to render the image.

Exploring Fablewood-May 9, 2016

The past week has been busy between my day job, getting ready for Free Comic Book day, and venturing to The Comic Book Shop in Wilmington DE on Saturday. I didn’t have a chance to work on any Fablewood related drawings or sketches. So I’ve decided to share a page from Songs of Fablewood, which will soon be available in my online shop I’m setting up.

Bugbears are the larger cousins of goblins. With their large size and strength Bugbears are often used in goblin armies as berserkers. They carry axes, clubs, or broad swords to take out as many opponents as possible. Their armor is a higher caliber since they are front line fighters and leaders. Bugbears are used as the Goblin King’s guards and hold a high position in the goblin hierarchy. A few work in the forges to help create the mighty weapons and amor. There are Bugbears that work regular jobs like merchants, farmers, and political positions. Some work as sell swords instead of working for the Goblin King and have been seen in other factions armies and as city guards.
